What is the format of an event?
Format can depend on the event, however most events are without specific agendas, unless advertised on a specific topic. For example, if it’s a dinner then they are very informal and relaxed, where people can meet and interact with likeminded professional women. A recent member after attending her first dinner said “it’s like gossiping with old friends, someone who knows me, shares my anguishes yet the surprising fact is I have never met these ladies before”.
Can non-Muslim women join?
The network is being set up to fulfill a need that have been identified with the Muslim Professional Community, however if ladies of other faiths wish join us then they will be very much welcome.
I don't wear Hijab or fully practice Islam, can I still attend?
Imaan Networking has been set up specifically to break down all barriers in our community, therefore it is all inclusive. If you wear hijab then you are welcome to join and if you don't then you are also welcome join. This invitation is all inclusive, regardless of level of faith, understanding, race, age, background, fully practicing or not, all are welcome.
Is there always halal food available?
Imaan Networking like to encourage our members to go to new venues in London and where possible we will always endeavor to meet at venues serving halal food, however sometimes we will attend, arrange networking events at venues that serve non halal food and therefore we will limit the menu served to vegetable and fish choices.
Where do you advertise?
Currently we promote the group through Islamic Events email groups, however we also encourage our members to spread the word through their own positive engagement with the group.
If I join do I also have to volunteer for a community programme?
Imaan Networking encourages all of our members to give back to the communities in any way possible; however this is not a condition of joining the group. We will communicate and promote volunteering, mentoring, offering guidance opportunities and we will also provide the support to all those par-taking in such initiatives, however the choice as to whether you wish to take up such an opportunity is purely the individuals.
Can I volunteer my time to help Imaan Networking?
Yes, we always welcome those that are wanting to help us achieve our objectives; we have a number of roles such as marketing, fundraising, events, finance manager etc. that need to be filled, therefore all help is gratefully received. For all other services, businesses and organisations our members would like to promote there is a Imaan Networking Classified, where you can market your own projects. To do so please click here.
Is there a joining fee?
Yes, we ask all members to pay £10 per year for membership of the group, this fee is purely to finance admin costs of the group, such as website and marketing, 5% of the fee goes to a chosen charity. Every year on the anniversary of joining you will be invited to renew your membership. Imaan Networking is not a profit making business and will go on to provide services to professional Muslims on a nonprofit basis. How do I buy a ticket?
You buy a ticket for each event prior to the event online via PayPal. You don’t need a PayPal account to do this.
Why do I have to pay an additional Paypal fee?
As Imaan Networking is a nonprofit organisation we need to ensure all our costs are covered. Paypal charge a small percentage for collecting payment from credit cards. We need to pass this onto our members as without doing so we would not be able to arrange and provide socialising opportunities. Imaan Networking is currently working on setting up additional facilities that will allow our members to transfer funds directly to us, once this facility is ready we will let our members know.
What is your refund policy?
If you have purchased a ticket for a dinner and you are unable to attend then your ticket is fully refunded, however where we pay third parties, such a theatre tickets, external events, hotels, airlines etc then we will do our best to get a refund should you need to cancel. However if we are not able to do so then your payment will be forfeited.
Is there a dress code for your events?
In short no, you wear what you feel comfortable in. If you wear a hijab then great, if you don’t that’s also just as good. We have an open invitation to all levels of faith and practice.
Are all events in the city?
Majority of our events are held centrally to allow the maximum number of members to attend, however sometimes we may host events outside of London.
